How should we take Manuka Honey?

Manuka honey is no ordinary honey, and we know its benefits are superior to ‘normal’

But how should we take it? Here are some ways Manuka Health recommends:

* Straight from the spoon – it’s so delicious it’s almost a treat.

* Add to tea or warm water – the perfect sweetener or soothing drink

* Dilute into water as a replenishing drink to rehydrate after exercise, during and after diarrhoea or other cause of dehydration

* Add to smoothies, yoghurt, or use as a spread – our favourite is plain Greek yogurt

* Apply directly to the skin as a nourishing facial. Leave on for 20 mins and then rinse off to find smooth, soft skin

Directions

Take 1 teaspoon 1-3 times daily

* Avoid extreme heat (e.g. baking or adding to boiling water) as this can destroy some of the beneficial components in the honey

Precautions

IMPORTANT! Honey is not recommended for infants under 12 months of age.

Manuka Honey has a moderate Glycemic Index of 54-59. Diabetics may still take Manuka honey with careful management of blood sugar levels.
